Dear friends,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Apostle Paul, in his letter to the Thessalonians writes: Brothers and sisters, for a short time we were made orphans by being separated from you — in person, not in heart. Today I\u2019m borrowing his words to write to you-brothers, sisters, dearest friends! Since the beginning of March we haven\u2019t been able to gather together–and I miss you all so very much. And yet–even though we are \u201edistanced\u201d in person, as Paul notes, we are together in heart and in spirit. Being distanced has helped us to realize how much we need one another. And so today, I give thanks to God for each and every one of you–individually and all together–who make up our community of faith, united in Christian love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During this \u201eorphan\u201d time, the work of the church has encountered some problems (that our congregation president, J\u0101nis \u0160ulcs writes about in this newsletter)–but it is still going on. Just, in a different way. Our Worship services have moved to the internet. It\u2019s not what we\u2019re used to and it\u2019s not ideal, but for this time, it\u2019s a way to be together and worship together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since Easter, we have been moving along this \u201enew way\u201d (and it is new, for me!) thanks to the many, many people who have stepped up to help. To participate by reading Scripture: J\u0101nis \u0160ulcs, Dr. Inese and \u0112riks Raisters, the whole Pru\u017einskis family–Lisa, Andris, Kri\u0161j\u0101nis and J\u016blijs, Dita Kanapinska and Dr. J\u0101nis S\u012bpols. In the next few weeks we will be seeing and hearing the \u0160ulcs family – J\u0101nis, Linda, Larisa and Aina, as well as Vaira Christopher, Jan\u012bna Jan\u0161\u0113vics, and Inta Wiest. It \u201etakes a village\u201d –or maybe we could say, it takes a congregation!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then, there is our \u201evideo team\u201d that meets each and every Monday to put together next Sunday\u2019s Worship service: our organist Dr. Andris \u0100boli\u0146\u0161, and Pauls Zommers who films the service on his iPhone – patiently guiding the rest of us who don\u2019t know what we\u2019re doing and making us look and sound almost professional! Then, Andrejs Zommers takes the video and places it on the internet and \u0112riks Raisters sends us the link, so we can all watch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to each and every one. With \u201eone heart and one spirit\u201d you have made our video Worship services possible. Thanks be to God for you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
