Dienā, kad filmējām video lielā dūmaka, ko šobrīd piedzīvojam, vēl nebija pārklājusi mūsu pilsētu. Ir nepatīkami un veselībai nedroši doties ārā–bet dūmi arī atgādina, ka ir cilvēki kas ugunsgrēkos ir zaudējuši visu. Tik daudz cilvēku–Vašingtonā, Oregonā, Kalifornijā.
Dr. Rita Sēja, Oregonas draudzes priekšniece, ir saņēmusi ziņu, ka jābūt gatavai atstāt maju. Viņa šobrīd vēl cer, ka tas nenotiks, bet ir sapakojusies. Turēsim viņu–un visus, kuri ir jau cietuši no ugunsgrēkiem–kā arī ugunsdzēsējus–savās lūgšanās!

Dear friends,
The video this week honors the 70th anniversary of our congregation on September 13, 2020. The readers of Scripture are former congregation presidents, Andrejs Zāmelis and Jānis Atvars, as well as Jānis Šulcs, our president now. He, along with Juris Cilnis, sing the hymns–which you can sing along by downloading the dziesmu lapiņa attached to this letter. Paldies, thank-you–to all of them! And,as ever and as always, paldies to Pauls Zommers, Andrejs Zommers and Ēriks Raisters–our video team.
When we made the video the smoke that is blanketing our city now hadn’t yet become so bad as it is now, when going outside is a health risk. As unpleasant as it is for us in the city–the smoke is a constant reminder that there are people, many, many people, who have lost everything in the wildfires all up and down the West Coast.
Dr. Rita Sēja, the president of our Oregon congregation has been told to prepare to evacuate her home on short notice. It hasn’t come yet and she hopes it may not–but she is packed and ready.
I ask for your prayers–for Rita and for those who already have suffered from the wildfires–as well as for the firefighters.
Prayers are the most important, but if you would like to donate for disaster relief, I attach information on how to do so through the Lutheran World Relief Disaster Response:
