The Seattle congregation’s annual graveside remembrance service will take place this coming Sunday, July 25th, at 10:30am in the Latvian section of the Evergreen-Washelli Memorial Park (11111 Aurora Ave. N). Dean Dāvis Kaņeps of Los Angeles and pastor Daira Cilne will preside.
The Tacoma congregation has informed us that their annual graveside remembrance service will take place later than usual, on August 14th at 5pm in the Latvian section of the New Tacoma Cemetery (9221 Chambers Creek Rd. W, University Place). In case of rain, the ceremony will take place in the mausoleum.Ziņoju, ka Seattles draudzes kapu svētki notiks šo svētdien, 25. jūlijā plkst 10:30 Wašelli kapsētā, latviešu nodaļā. Kalpos Prāvests Dāvis Kaņeps un mācītāja Daira Cilne.
Arī ziņoju, ka Takomas draudzes kapu svētki notiks vēlāk nekā ierasts, 14. augustā, plkst 5os pēcpusdienā, Takomas Jaunos kapos (New Cemetery) latviešu nodaļa, vai lietus gadījumā mausolejā.

Attached is the latest information and a brochure (sorry, currently only in Latvian) for the LELBA retreat (Draudžu Dienas) that will be held from September 2-6 at the West Coast Latvian Educational Center (Kursa), in Shelton. Our own pastor Daira Cilnis is organizing and leading this event, so we hope to get lots of our congregation members to participate for at least one or two days – there will also be lectures and discussions in English. We will also be kicking off the celebration of our congregation’s founding 60 years ago with a salmon barbeque and picnic on Sunday, September 5th.

Šo pasākumu vada mūsu paša mācītāja – Daira Cilne. Ceram, ka kupls skaits mūsu draudzes locekļi varēs piedalīties vizmaz daļu no šī laika. The Latvian Consulates in the United States and Canada are offering mobile passport centers this summer, with Seattle and Vancouver BC offered as possible spots. At least 40 people in each city are desirable for the mobile center to come to our city. If you are interested in renewing an expired (or no longer valid, older) passport, or have never applied for a Latvian passport but have been assigned a person code, please fill out an application before June 15th and mail or e-mail it to the appropriate Consulate. A valid passport is required in order to vote in the upcoming Saeima elections. With sadness we inform you of the passing of our congregation member Aldonis Ābers on May 21 in Latvia. No memorial serivce is scheduled in Seattle, but will be held instead in Latvia in July. The family wishes that donations in Aldonis’ memory be made to the Seattle Latvian Ev. Luth. Church.
Ar džiļām skumjām ziņojam, ka š.g. 21. maijā, Laidas pagastā, miris mūsu draudzes loceklis Aldonis Ābers. Piemiņas dievkalpojums Seattlē nenotiks, bet ir paredzēts Latvijā jūlijā. Piemiņai, ģimene lūdz, lai ziedotu Seattles Latviešu Ev. Lut. draudzei.

As part of our mission to make the Seattle Latvian Church accessible to as many people as possible, we are experimenting with technologies like streaming audio. If you click on the title / link below, you should hear Rev. Cilnis’ January 10, 2010 sermon. On most desktop computers, the audio will be played by the site’s own audio player. However, on some computers and mobile devices, the link will download the file and/or open it in the device’s default audio player.

To skip ahead or replay a section, simply click on the desired section of the timeline (the blue line that appears under the title once it is playing). Clicking the “download” button in the player will, in most cases, play the audio file through the default media player on your computer (e.g. Windows Media Player, RealPlayer, QuickTime, etc.) or mobile device. If you wish to save the audio file to a Windows PC, you can right-click on it with your mouse and select “Save Target As…” Other computer types will have alternate methods for saving download files. The native file format for the audio is MP3.
